Compare surface disinfectant wipes and spray cleaners for food areas. Learn which option suits your hygiene needs, from fast daily wipes to deep sanitising sprays.
Quick answer
For quick, convenient disinfection of surfaces and food probes, choose surface disinfectant wipes. For larger areas or cost-effective deep cleaning, a spray sanitiser like SoluCater Surface Sanitiser offers better coverage.
Convenience vs Coverage
Wipes are ready to use and eliminate the need for separate cloths, reducing cross-contamination risk. They are ideal for spot cleaning and high-touch surfaces. Sprays, on the other hand, cover larger areas more economically and can be used with reusable cloths or paper towels, making them better for whole-room sanitising.
Germ Kill and Food Safety
Both wipes and sprays can be effective against a range of pathogens, but the specific claims differ. Surface Disinfectant Wipes are tested against gram-negative bacteria and viruses like MRSA and SARS, while SoluCater Surface Sanitiser is independently tested to EN1276, achieving a 99.9999% germ kill. For food probe hygiene, alcohol-free wipes are a safer choice as they leave no chemical residue that could taint food.
Trade-offs at a glance
- Surface Disinfectant Wipes: Best for quick, on-the-go disinfection of surfaces, equipment, and high-touch points. They are pre-saturated and disposable, reducing cross-contamination. However, they may not be as economical for large areas and can dry out if not sealed properly. Use for spot cleaning and frequent touchpoints.
- Food Probe Wipes Alcohol Free: Ideal for cleaning food probes and other food-contact surfaces where chemical residue is a concern. They are alcohol-free, quat-free, and PHMB-free, ensuring safety for direct food contact. The trade-off is that they are not designed for general surface disinfection. Keep these separate from general cleaning wipes.
- SoluCater Surface Sanitiser Spray: Provides broad coverage for larger areas at a lower cost per use. It is independently tested to EN1276 for a 99.9999% germ kill, making it a powerful option for deep cleaning. However, it requires a separate cloth and proper contact time to be effective. Pair with disposable cloths to avoid cross-contamination.
